Breakfast With Santa!!!

In support of the “Teen Catholic Youth Conference”, on Sunday, December 1st, Santa Claus paid a visit to the St. Mary’s parish. As Santa is getting ready for his big night in a couple weeks, he joined the rest of the parish for a wholesome breakfast of pancakes, bacon, eggs and sausage. He spent time with many families from St. Mary’s and was sure to take requests from the children. St. Mary’s loves Santa and thanks him for taking the time from his busy schedule to visit the parish.

The Knights of Columbus sponsored six buses around the area to transport “marches” to the event this year as the group has done in years past. The group from St. Mary’s were picked up at 9:30 and arrived in Washington in time to listen to a great concert performed by Sidewalk Prophets. Speeches this year included a surprise appearance from VP Mike Pence and his wife Karen. It was an uplifting days of support for children, Mom’s and family!

If you haven’t had a chance to take part in the March for Life join us in 2020!

Parish Picnic

Thanks to chefs and all of the volunteers!

Thanks to chefs and all of the volunteers!

The annual Parish Picnic was held a bit later in the year in 2018 due to weather challenges. Undaunted the Picnic was held on October 28th with a great turnout!

The Picnic began after the 11:00 am Mass which was the Youth Mass featuring "Dress up as a Saint" day.

Those attending the Picnic were able to stop by a number of tables that had been setup to promote a number of Parish Ministries.

Thank were a number of parishioners that volunteered for the picnic to help with setup and cleanup, providing food to share and cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs that were provided by the Parish.

The Picnic wrapped up around 2 pm with a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot.

The event was organized by Gina Stargel who noted that it was a very fun event even though it was a particularly windy day. People had a chance to participate in a raffle which helped raise $176.00 dollars towards VBS.

The raffle winners were:

For the Baby Bundle ——- Va Beasley

For the Girls Night ———— Aimee Fletcher

For Movie Night ————- Angie Fines

For The Baseball basket—— Cecilia Stargel

Gina also wanted to say thank you to Shonnie Carroll and Kari Campbell for helping with the raffle.

And A very big Thank You to Steve and Mary Gajdos, Sue Brim, Suzie HeMakana Tatham, Ron Wisniewski, Gail M Dillon, Penny Costello Geary, and everyone who helped put this together.... though we didn’t bring in any new members we did hand out flyers and remind people we are in Ladysmith. It was a fun day !!!

Easter Alms Giving Donation Match Challenge Announced

Over the last few weeks we made several improvements to our facilities such as replacing all the toilets, repairing heating and air-conditioning units, reconfiguring the music ministry area and several cosmetic improvements. However, when it comes to maintenance and upkeep there always seems to be more that needs to be done. In our case that includes repairing and repaving our parking lot.

To help with the costs of improvements one of our parishioners is offering $3000 in matching funds for any money donated to the maintenance fund! Would you be willing to help? To contribute simply write “Donation Challenge” in the memo of your check or on one of the blue giving envelopes with your donation enclosed. Anything you donate is greatly appreciated! Challenge ends April 15th.
